When it comes to getting ready, I’m prepared to spend an hour in my closet if it means nailing the right look. My “no outfit, no appearance” philosophy means, if I can’t put something together that suits wherever it is I’m going, then staying in is a good call (and hitting the retail racks is an immediate "to-do"). Don't worry, my tally of wardrobe dilemma’s leading to canceled plans is a single digit number I can count on one hand - I won't miss our rendezvous-vous, but, that's just the unfiltered truth.
With makeup, things are different. Five minutes at the vanity mirror is plenty. This is my "makeup as a means of enhancing natural beauty, not creating it" philosophy, meaning, I want to feel comfortable with the way I really look and never feel as though I’m revealing a "no-filter", au naturale image of myself when I remove a layer of product. I want the real to still be there, up close and personal, but in semi-bold. I’m thinking, “Hey world, this is my face, embrace it.” No, I didn’t adopt this philosophy overnight, like everyone else i'm still hoping those throwback selfies of my best "duck face" in a makeup look I can't defend aren't a google search away from resurfacing, that was then. But, c'est la vie. We change, constantly, until we wake up one day and feel completely ourselves. My routine is simple: eyebrows, eyelashes, lips. Prepping my skin for this 3-step enhancement necessitates Cerave foaming cleanser, La Roche Posay sunscreen & moisturizer, a Vitamin C serum, Rose Water, Aquaphor, and bi-monthly microdermabrasion facials. |
1: Brows - For years i've clung to my Anastasia Brow Pencil, it's the only product I trust. I've recently made the switch to professional tinting. This saves me the effort of filling and shaping every morning, I wake up with brows I love.
2: Lashes - I’ve gone through countless mascaras: some too dramatic, others too clumpy. Finding the LANCÔME LE 8 HYPNÔSE was special. It creates the semi-bold enhancement I adore, with nourishing properties that reviitalize my lashes over time.
3: Pout - If it's the best exfoliation product money can buy or a chapstick approved by 9/10 dermatologists, I'm all for it. I'm very cautious about the products I use, anything with fragrance just isn't happening. When looking for lipsticks, tints, or balms - it has to be exactly what I want, because I’m wearing it everyday. The Dior Lip Addict in PINK is currently my holy grail product.
